Apparently there is a movement among bloggers called “Blogger Power: Safeguard the Web for Children“. The initiators of the project are Jon Harmon, founder of Force for Good, and Mihaela Lica of Pamil Visions. Mihaela often writes on thumbshots.org articles. I think this is a worth while cause to fight, not just among the bloggers but by everyone.
What’s funny is that I found out today about some shocking stats that 1/3 of kids under 13 have access to porns. That’s how I came across this movement. Here’s the article I read. http://fly2.ws/boys-view-porn
- this is not a campaign against pornography as a whole
- this is not about restricting legitimate free speech and legal commerce
- this is a common sense request to all the “adult site” webmasters: password-protected login on porn sites for all the explicit materials, no more “free clips”, “free tours”, “free pics” without login! “

Here is a question that I would like asked of each candidate in the debate or at least somewhere to get them on the record.
Senator, If you could be shown a method that would
1) biometrically tie an ID to an individual and would maintain complete privacy for that individual (even from the government)
and
2) allow the ID to be used as a checking mechanism for businesses, websites, etc. to ensure that the ID user is of age or free of other restrictions to purchase or access products or materials
then would you lead the charge to institute this method as a way to protect our children from accessing inappropriate websites by requiring the use of this type of secure biometric ID to access these sites?
